Blake's Homecoming

After a long day at the hospital, we arrived home around 2:30. Izzy actually surprised us and took well to her new sister. The first night home wasn't as bad as people told us it would be. Blake slept a lot and only woke up to eat. She waited about 3 weeks before waking up in the middle of the night and wanting to have a party.

Arrival of Blake Elizabeth

Blake was born at 4:27 am on April 15. The doctor decided on Monday the 13th to induce labor because he thought that she was too small and was possibly not growing in the womb. Laura went in on the 14th (her 30th birthday) in the evening and she was set to be induced Thurs. morning. Blake decided that she didn't need to be induced and wanted to show the world she could come out on her own. Laura got a medication that was supposed to "get her cervix ready" at 10:00 Wed. night and everything progressed from there. Her water broke around 2:30 and by the time they were finished placing the epidural at 3:30, it was time to push. The doctor was at home so we had to sit and wait for her to get to the hospital. After three pushes, Blake literally flew out into the world. She had a head full of hair and was much bigger than the ultrasound showed weighing in at 6 lbs 6 oz and 19.5 inches.
